You have a chance to speak at the New York Senate Marijuana Committee’s public hearing related to accessibility and retail sale of legal adult-use cannabis on Monday, October 30.
The purpose of the hearing is to address challenges of the State’s legal cannabis market rollout and to attempt to find legislative solutions. Committee chair Sen. Jeremy Cooney (D) explained that the hearing is meant to “involve the cannabis community at large,” not just government officials and lawmakers, according to an interview with Marijuana Moment.
The form requires a witness’ name, county, organization and contact information. For those unable to attend the hearing in-person in Albany, there is a choice to submit a written testimony. The form can be found here.
On Monday, New York’s Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) announced the opening of four new adult-use dispensaries, plus a delivery operation in Rome, NY. These new businesses bring up the state’s total of operational dispensaries up to 27.
Air City Cannabis will soon open a cannabis delivery-only dispensary based in Rome. The dispensary is owned and operated by Courtney Forester, who owned and operated I-Candies, a fashion boutique and independent women’s clothing store.
The four dispensaries are Elevate ADK in Saranac Lake, Terp Bros in Astoria, Gotham Buds in Harlem (Manhattan) and CONBUD in the Lower East Side in Manhattan. Each are the first dispensaries to open in their respective cities.
